Sourdough French toast with cinnamon sugar, salted maple butter and blueberry jam

Jump to recipe

People might tell you that thereā€™s no reason to add cinnamon sugar, blueberry jam AND maple butter to a French toast, but you donā€™t need that kind of negativity in your life. Youā€™re a grown-up now, you make the rules. I made this after I just had lunch because I felt like ā€œa small dessertā€..and it was so good that I thought Iā€™d inform the troops.

  1. You probably know how to make French toast but hey: whisk the egg and milk together with a sprinkle of cinnamon, sugar and some salt. Pour the mixture onto a plate and drench the sourdough in it.

  2. Heat up half of the butter in a non-stick skillet and fry the bread until golden brown on both sides.

  3. In the meantime mix the remaining butter with some sea salt (I used smoked sea salt, which was absolutely banging) and about a teaspoon of maple syrup. Also combine say a tablespoon of sugar with a teaspoon of cinnamon.

  4. When the sourdough is ready, plate it up, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over, add some blueberry jam and the salty maple butter, and enjoy!

I was pretty darn pleased with my lunch-dessert situation, hope you'll be too!\
