Hello there! My name is Lot, and I like food. A lot. To nurture this healthy obsession I’ve started a newsletter. This project started with a challenge: make a euro on the internet. A euro, I thought intrigued, that's a very small amount. Dis we can.
The internet is a strangely wondrous place, and making a euro here is not actually a big challenge if you were to just sell something you already have (say, a smelly pair of socks). Choosing to respectfully park that as a last-resort-option, I’m rather aiming to create something that can be accessed online, and by doing so - if the generous people of the internet deem me successful - make that sweet sweet euro.
L'ottimo. Cause God (with that capital G) knows I love me a good play on words, especially if it includes ma name. For the non-Italian speakers among us ottimo is a word used to describe the absolute best, optimal, or delicious [something]. I first heard it used by an Italian waiter who arrived at our table to take our order, only to then disagree with every single dish we wanted because his wife had made the lasagna that day and if we weren't gonna order that we might as well leave the establishment. Being highly appreciative of his bordering-on-rude attitude and determination I could not think of a better name for this project (yes we did order the lasagna and yes it was l'ottimo).
L’ottimo will be a weekly newsletter in which I will share
something delicious I've cooked that week. I'll give you a recipe
and if you do so desire you can cook it too! Or don't cook it!
Either way I will try to still love you and send you something new
the week after.
Now I'm sure some of you are thinking oh boi how much dis gonna
cost me, where the euro coming from Lot?? Worry not my dear: this
newsletter is completely free! It is my way of trying out if this
is something that people enjoy, if it could be continued as a paid
service somehow in the far far future or if I should just ship my
stinky socks instead.
